U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.46 percent to 104.995 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.0714 U.S. dollars from 1.0782 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.2913 dollars from 1.2965 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 152.69 Japanese yen, lower than 153.09 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.8761 Swiss francs from 0.8735 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3914 Canadian dollars from 1.3862 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 10.8283 Swedish Kronor from 10.7158 Swedish Kronor.
