U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.67 percent to 106.445 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.0490 U.S. dollars from 1.0580 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2650 U.S. dollars from 1.2739 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 149.52 Japanese yen, lower than 149.61 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.8868 Swiss francs from 0.8802 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.4046 Canadian dollars from 1.3994 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.9995 Swedish kronor from 10.8836 Swedish kronor.
