LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Seasonal influenza activity is increasing among children in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

COVID-19 activity remains low and is stable in most areas, according to CDC updates on Monday.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) activity is elevated and continues to increase in the southern, central, and eastern United States, particularly in young children, said CDC.

Respiratory infections caused by the bacterium Mycoplasma pneumoniae remain elevated among young children in the United States, according to CDC.

Vaccination coverage with influenza and COVID-19 vaccines are low among U.S. adults and children, CDC data show. Vaccination coverage with RSV vaccines remains low among U.S. adults.

Many children and adults lack protection from respiratory virus infections afforded by vaccines, said CDC.
