NEW YORK, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 128.65 points, or 0.29 percent, to 44,782.0. The S&P 500 added 14.77 points, or 0.24 percent, to 6,047.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 185.78 points, or 0.97 percent, to 19,403.95.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with utilities and real estate leading the laggards by dropping 2.08 percent and 1.44 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and consumer discretionary led the gainers by going up 1.45 percent and 1.06 percent, respectively.
