U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.13 percent to 106.859 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.0510 U.S. dollars from 1.0495 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.2684 dollars from 1.2617 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 154.13 Japanese yen, higher than 153.69 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8948 Swiss francs from 0.8927 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.4237 Canadian dollars from 1.4233 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.8870 Swedish Kronor from 10.9800 Swedish Kronor.
