WASHINGTON, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- U.S. retail sales grew 0.7 percent in November from the previous month, fueled by robust motor vehicle sales, according to data released by the U.S. Commerce Department on Tuesday.
Advance estimates of U.S. retail and food services sales for November, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were 724.6 billion U.S. dollars.
Motor vehicle and parts dealers were up 6.5 percent from last year, partially driven by replacement demand following the autumn hurricanes in the Southeast. Excluding car, car parts and gasoline, sales rose modestly by 0.2 percent last month.
Retail sales were up 3.8 percent above November 2023, the report showed.
The September to October percent change was revised from up 0.4 percent to up 0.5 percent. Total sales for the September 2024 through November 2024 period were up 2.9 percent from the same period a year ago.
