U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.05 percent to 108.257 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0433 U.S. dollars from 1.0394 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound added to 1.2548 dollars from 1.2532 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 157.23 Japanese yen, lower than 157.32 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar declined to 0.8867 Swiss francs from 0.9006 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.4402 Canadian dollars from 1.4367 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was down to 10.9598 Swedish Kronor from 11.0923 Swedish Kronor.
