U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.12 percent to 107.997 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.0428 U.S. dollars from 1.0418 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.2582 dollars from 1.2526 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 157.94 Japanese yen, lower than 157.99 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.9018 Swiss francs from 0.8991 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.4411 Canadian dollars from 1.4415 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was down to 11.0011 Swedish Kronor from 11.0466 Swedish Kronor.
