Crude futures settle higher

NEW YORK, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices rose on Monday.

The West Texas Intermediate for February delivery gained 39 cents, or 0.55 percent, to settle at 70.99 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for February delivery added 22 cents, or 0.3 percent, to settle at 74.39 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
