NEW YORK, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 25.57 points, or 0.06 percent, to 42,706.56. The S&P 500 added 32.91 points, or 0.55 percent, to 5,975.38. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 243.30 points, or 1.24 percent, to 19,864.98.
Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with real estate and utilities leading the laggards by losing 1.40 percent and 1.09 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and technology led the gainers by going up 2.13 percent and 1.44 percent, respectively.
