Sarajevo int'l airport records 34 pct passenger growth in 2024

SARAJEVO, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Sarajevo International Airport served more than 1.82 million passengers in 2024, a rise of 34 percent from a year earlier, according to the airport on Tuesday.

Strategic flight routes introduced in 2024 significantly boosted passenger traffic and strengthened Sarajevo's connectivity within Europe and beyond.

In 2024, the airport recorded 16,836 flight operations, up by 21 percent year-on-year.

Ryanair launched direct flights from Sarajevo for the first time, linking the city with London, Brussels, Milan, among others, creating new opportunities for tourism and business in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Other European and global airlines also expanded their destination offerings. In total, 27 airlines operated regular and charter flights from Sarajevo in 2024, connecting the city to over 30 global destinations.
