U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar softened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.09 percent to 107.343 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.0493 U.S. dollars from 1.0495 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.2490 dollars from 1.2483 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 154.55 Japanese yen, lower than 155.82 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.9014 Swiss francs from 0.9060 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.4377 Canadian dollars from 1.4343 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.9362 Swedish Kronor from 10.9267 Swedish Kronor.
