North Macedonia's producer price index up 6.1 pct in 2024


SKOPJE, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- North Macedonia's producer price index (PPI) rose 6.1 percent year-on-year in 2024, according to a report from the State Statistics Office released on Monday.

The PPI has shown a continued upward trend in recent years, rising by 4.0 percent in 2023 and by 13.3 percent in 2022.

Among different sectors, the price index for mining and quarrying rose by 16.3 percent. The index for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply grew by 14.0 percent, while the manufacturing sector saw a 5.3 percent increase. The index for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services rose by 4.5 percent.

On a monthly basis, the PPI in December 2024 recorded a modest increase of 0.3 percent compared to November.
