Proposal on waiver of ATM inter-bank fee

I HAVE been reading the comments on social media about fellow Malaysians in the B40 and M40 groups being burdened by the RM1 fee charged to customers withdrawing cash from automated teller machines (ATMs) not affiliated with their respective banks.

While I do appreciate the banks’ point that we can’t expect them to make a loss from providing essential ATM services, I still feel the fee is a burden on those who truly need it, especially in areas where a branch of their bank is not available.
