Time for broad bipartisanship to sort out real issues

THE wheels of justice have been set into motion. That the Attorney-General has moved fast to charge the policemen allegedly involved in the death of detainee N. Dhamendran may bring small comfort to his family, and to some extent, assuage public anger.

The three policemen – Sjn Jaffri Jaafar, 44, Kpl Mohd Nahar Abd Rahman, 45, and Kpl Mohd Haswadi Zamri Shaari, 32 – have been charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
