I FOUND “What makes a syarie lawyer?” (The Star, June 8) interesting in view of the current issues. However, as a Muslim, I find the article hard to swallow as a whole.
The Peguam Syarie Rules 1993 (Federal Territory) is clear in its requirements of the faith of applicants. This should be a straightforward reason to deny any applications from non-Muslim syarie lawyers.
