I DON’T think there should be any issue over celebrating Merdeka Day on Aug 31. This is despite the fact that Malaysia existed only from Sept 16, 1963.
If we were to look at the United States of America, which gained independence from Britain on July 4, 1776, we can see some similarities with our experience.
