I REFER to your editorial “The taxman cometh, and giveth, all too frequently” (The Star, Aug 5) and to also thank the writer for his comments on the recent statement in the media concerning tax refund compensation.

Firstly, I agree wholeheartedly with his statement that it is morally unjustifiable to tax more than is required by the laws of this country. On the other hand, I believe he will agree that it is also morally wrong for a taxpayer to hold back full payment of his tax liability when many others are prompt and pay in full every year,
