Don’t take safety for granted

EVERY relevant party must take the matter of school safety seriously. Safety in school is not confined to the pupils alone but extends to everyone including teachers, administrative staff, canteen workers, security personnel and even visitors.

The issue of safety in our schools is not new as there have been many incidents leading to injuries and fatalities in the buildings and compounds of schools. In the latest incident a few days ago, a female security guard in a primary school in Lutong, Miri, was killed after a 15-foot gate fell on her.
