More parks, fewer condos

THE annual occurrence of haze is a timely reminder that Malaysia is in desperate need of more trees. Knowing that trees clean the air, give us oxygen and reduce the temperature, why are parks being removed to make way for heat-producing condominiums? We have watched this happen to parts of the Lake Gardens and now the Taman Rimba Kiara (TRK) is going the same way.

The TRK is home to many fully-grown trees and is well used by residents of Taman Tun Dr Ismail and beyond. Condos, on the other hand, are sitting empty all over Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and no one I know can understand the need for more of them.
