Right reasons for clamping or towing cars

FOLLOWING a news report last Friday that all clamping operations in Kuala Lumpur will be suspended indefinitely from November, the public are divided over the decision made by Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan.

Like most law-abiding motorists, I am annoyed by the sight of vehicles that are double parked or obstructing traffic and love to see them towed away. However, I do not support clamping to punish illegal parking when the vehicles are not obstructing anyone.
