Value of sports to the economy


AS a coach, I never had any need to deal with the Youth and Sports Minister and his team at the ministry. But this changed in the lead-up to the Touche International Minime 2020, an international fencing competition for boys and girls from the ages of eight to 15 years held on Feb 1 and 2 in Kuala Lumpur.

Under pressure from the challenges of organising an international tournament, I had to reach out to the ministry for help. It was here that I had the opportunity to gauge its ability to assist the developing sport of fencing.
