IT is astonishing to note the speed and consistency with which Malaysia has brought the Covid-19 pandemic largely under control to the point that the country is able to return to near normal.
Viewed against the loss of control in the spread of this virus and the damage it is doing to the population in many other societies, particularly Western societies, it would seem Malaysia has done remarkably well. This is in no small measure due to the courage of the authorities to make the right decisions and to implement those decisions without fear or favour. Just as importantly, credit has to go to Malaysians who have had to endure the inconvenience and constraints on their daily lives with a determination to overcome this insidious, elusive and deadly enemy. This takes a good deal of sacrifice and self-discipline and, importantly, a trust in the measures put in place for the good of the nation.
