Filepic/The Star

The March 13, 2021, report about eggs from a Malaysian farm being recalled by Singaporean authorities indicates that Malaysians are being rated as second-class consumers where food safety is concerned.

The eggs were rejected after being found to be contaminated with salmonella enteritidis, a bacteria that can cause diarrhoea, abdominal pain, fever, nausea and vomiting (“Salmonella detected: Singapore recalls eggs”). We heard local authorities say that the eggs from that producer are not sold in Malaysia, and only some producers are affected.
