THE Vice Chancellor of UCSI University, Datuk Khalid Yusoff, died on Monday after undergoing a medical procedure. It came as a shock to me and I set aside all my work and spent the day thinking about how the VC had affected the lives of those around him, and especially my life in the short span of six years that I knew him.
In one sense, I should be the last person to write this small tribute, as Khalid was not what I would consider a good friend. A friend is someone you’d have long conversations with over teh tarik or have meals with at each other’s homes. I never did any of that with him. Our meetings were always official; the few times we saw each other unofficially were chance meetings at G25 forums. He was a serious member of the G25 group that comments on Malaysian issues.
