ON Aug 26, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan announced that the enforcement of the Employment (Amendment) Act (Act 265) would be deferred from Sept 1, 2022 to Jan 1, 2023. The decision, he said, was made after discussions with industry players and stakeholders.
The Electrical Industry Workers’ Union (EIWU) is shocked and saddened by this announcement, which was made at the eleventh hour and without consulting any workers’ representatives, including MTUC (Malaysian Trades Union Congress).
