Vital to respect separation of powers, rule of law in Najib's SRC conviction


ON Aug 23, 2022, the Federal Court – as the apex and supreme court of the land – upheld Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s conviction and 12 years’ jail sentence and RM210mil fine for misappropriating RM42mil of SRC International funds.

A five-member bench led by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat dismissed Najib’s appeal to set aside the conviction and sentence imposed by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on July 28, 2020.
