Set KPI for accountability

IN the wake of the Batang Kali landslide tragedy, questions have been raised about an early warning system for landslides and also the licensing requirements for campsite operators. This raises the issue of accountability: “Which regulatory body has direct responsibility to monitor and enforce the rules?”

In the multinational corporation where I served for 38 years, we relied on distinctive structure forms and management processes to maintain accountability. A system is in place where roles and responsibilities are clearly assigned and communicated. Performance standard is defined, monitored and assessed periodically both internally and externally to achieve the intended objectives.
