Authorities must take swift action on complaints

I AM writing in frustration about the apathy with which some (if not most) local authorities are treating public complaints on broken drain covers.

I’m sure many people throughout the country have spotted broken drain covers and reported the matter to their respective local authorities. Not only are the exposed drains an eyesore, they could also pose a danger to unsuspecting pedestrians who may trip and fall into them or, worse, fall onto the road and be hit by a passing vehicle.
