Weight restrictions aim to protect roads


I REFER to the recent report in a local daily about the plan by Malaysian tipper lorry operators to increase fares if their request to be allowed to transport loads over the currently permitted weight is not approved.

The association’s chairman said the increase was inevitable because their operating costs would jump manifold if they continued to follow the current cargo weight limit.
