This is the dark side of Penang

I AM writing this letter at the ungodly hour of 3am on a Sunday morning, awakened once again by the roar of hordes of motorcyclists invading Penang. Illegal racers are common in many cities, of course, but this is different. I kid you not: every weekend, at about 3am, where I live on Penang Island is overrun by massive numbers of motorcyclists.

I have seen the authorities respond, but with one squad car only, leaving the cops outnumbered by the riders of these two-wheeled nuisances.
