Just recognition for artistes and arts practitioners

AS a long-time fan of veteran saxophonist and composer Tan Sri (Dr) Ahmad Khan Nawab Khan, known professionally as Ahmad Nawab, it is heartening to note that he has been conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM) in conjunction with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s official birthday this year.

I would like to commend the Federal Government for awarding the accolade to this legendary artiste who has contributed much to the local music industry. Ahmad Nawab, who grew up in Penang and began his music career in the 1950s, is a composer of over 2,000 songs, many of which became top hits.
