Cats must be kept under control

THE case of a former military man who was fined RM20,000 for shooting his neighbour’s cat with an air rifle should be a stern reminder for everyone that animal cruelty will not be tolerated, “Man fined RM20,000 for shooting neighbour’s cat” (The Star, June 23).

However, we cannot close our eyes to the fact that there is a problem with cats that are allowed by their owners to roam freely in the neighbourhood.
