I REFER to “Elderly man dies at home, alone” (The Star, July 10; online at bit.ly/star_alone). Cases of senior citizens found dead at home where they lived alone are becoming frequent. As in this case, their deaths are usually only discovered when the stench from decomposing bodies spreads.
I believe that, nowadays, many senior folk live alone out of choice rather than necessity if they are still healthy, mobile and able to care for themselves. But at their age “sudden death” is still an unwelcome possibility. Hence, they may want to take the following precautions.
