IN Rawang, Selangor, a proposed waste-to-energy incinerator project has ignited a fiery debate among its residents. This RM4.5bil project, including the Sultan Idris Shah green energy plant, represents a modern approach to waste management and energy generation. However, it also poses significant environmental and health challenges that have rallied the community into action.
Over 20 community associations, representing approximately 100,000 residents from areas such as Batu Arang, Kota Puteri, and Bandar Tasik Puteri, have expressed their concerns. Spearheaded by the Rawang Tolak Incinerator Network, these residents are unified in their opposition to the incinerators' potential risks.
