Momentous ruling, but what of enforcement?


THE International Court of Justice (ICJ) delivered an interim ruling on Friday in South Africa’s genocide case against Israel over the war in Gaza.

The ICJ refused South Africa’s request for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, despite ICJ Presi-dent Joan Donoghue citing senior United Nations officials’ statements on Gaza, such as Martin Griffiths’, who said “Gaza has become a place of death and despair”.
