Urgent need to stop the importing of waste

I REFER to the article, “Malaysia uncovers at least 106 containers of e-waste in ports” (The Star, June 26; online at tinyurl.com/ 4z5khun3). About two years ago, Malaysians were horrified to learn of plastic waste being imported into the country.

There was much public outrage then but until now I have not heard of anyone caught and charged in court for the crime. Is this lackadaisical attitude why Malaysia is turning into the world’s rubbish bin for hazardous waste?
