THE current government made the extremely unpopular decision to remove the blanket diesel subsidy recently so it can tackle the bloated national debt more effectively.
That debt stands at a staggering RM1.5 trillion. It has been mounting especially sharply in recent years but no action was taken by previous administrations to address the problem. Perhaps they were just hoping that the problem would magically disappear one day.
