Concern over unauthorised sale of prescription medications

I AM highlighting a deeply concerning issue that poses a significant threat to public health in Malaysia – the unauthorised sale of prescription medications by retail pharmacies.

Despite multiple reports and complaints lodged with the pharmacy enforcement authority, the enforcement of regulations remains alarmingly weak. Consequently, many retail pharmacies continue to sell prescription drugs as if they were everyday groceries, thereby undermining the quality of patient care, particularly for those with chronic illnesses.
