Increasing budget for healthcare the only option

I HAVE a lot of respect for Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. Dr Dzul, as we in the public healthcare sector affectionately think of him, is a good man and we know he is trying his very best to fix our public health service.

It appears that the government does not plan to invest a lot more in public healthcare, i.e. there is not going to be any major increase in health spending in the coming budget or near future. In addition, we see no concrete plans for a meaningful solution to improve the conditions and remuneration of public healthcare professionals.
