THE United Nations has designated Oct 1 as the International Day of Older Persons.
According to the Statistics Department there are around 2.5 million people in Malaysia who are over 65 years old and that is about 7.8% of the 33 million people in the country. The Malaysian government has generally been caring and considerate of the senior citizens of this country through the years. However, I believe there are some areas in which more could be done.
