Possible solution to assessment quandary

I REFER to the letters “Explore other assessment methods” (The Star, Sept 2) and “We are not ready for performance-based assessment” (Oct 5), both by Gopala Krishnan.

I concur with his views on the shortcomings of the current Pentaksiran Bilik Darjah (classroom-based assessment), and would like to alert him of another flaw in the current assessment system. It’s “internal pressure”, and it distorts the actual academic standard and competency of students.
