Emulate Japan’s flood alert messages

THE Klang Valley and other parts of Malaysia often faces flash floods nowadays – like the one on Tuesday, which I’m sure caught KLites by surprise and caused mass disruption to traffic and people’s lives. But at least we, unlike our neighbours, are fortunate to be spared typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes.

We must, however, at the very least, be constantly prepared to deal with flash floods. Contin-gencies should be immediately executed at the onset of unexpected weather conditions. The government and local authorities must alert people about impending heavy downpours.
