Educate the public on electrical hazard

I refer to the report “Better be safe than sorry” (The Star, Nov 5). Sadly, an 18-year-old died while charging his mobile phone on an express bus. While we ensure frequent checks are carried out to provide stability and safety and prevent surges, more should be done. Electrocution is a fatal danger associated with electrical appliances, tools and wiring.

Fundamental causes of electrocution are faulty wiring, outdated electrical systems, or even improper use of electrical appliances. It could also lack ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI). So, we must ensure safety measures here, including installing GFCIs, checking on damaged cords and avoiding overloading circuits.
