Importance of securing loads on the road

THE recent tragic accident in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, in which a young woman died after a container fell on her car, serves as a stark reminder of the deadly consequences of negligence in road transportation.

While the investigation is ongoing, it appears an unsecured load may have a role in the accident. Assuming the container was empty, it’s crucial to emphasise that even empty containers must be securely fastened. It’s not uncommon to see haphazardly secured loads on our roads. Unsecured goods can often become deadly projectiles at high speeds, sharp turns, or during emergency stops.
