THE public service is the backbone of government administration and policy delivery, making it a critical component of national progress. The enactment of a Public Service Act is not merely overdue but urgently needed to address the evolving challenges faced by Malaysia’s administrative machinery.
The need for this Act has become more pronounced today, especially if Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar’s reform agenda is to materialise. This agenda identifies five reform outcome areas and 20 strategic actions aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness within the public service.
