Election of officials could spur professionalism in local councils

WE refer to the report “Many in Selangor agree with Sultan’s call for half of local councillors to be professionals” (The Star, March 4).

As elected members of our resident’s association, we feel that conducting public elections to select local councillors can bring about numerous benefits, including building professionalism in local governance.
