Call to regulate adventure tourism

WE refer to the reports “Three drown after water surge on Sg Kampar hits white-water rafters” (The Star, Nov 15), and “Sg Jahang tragedy: Recreational, water sports activities in Kampar suspended” (Nov 16).

On behalf of a group of concerned tourism operators in Gopeng, we urge the government to look at the governance of the adventure tourism industry, which remains unregulated, to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
