THE decision to allow foreigners to use the automated passport control lanes at Malaysian airports is undoubtedly a forward- thinking initiative aimed at streamlining international travel. However, its implementation appears to have overlooked the practical implications for Malaysian travellers.
While inclusivity is commendable, the current infrastructure is not equipped to handle the increased traffic effectively. Malaysian citizens who once enjoyed seamless travel are now waiting up to 30 minutes and sometimes even longer to clear passport control – a stark contrast to the efficiency these gates were meant to provide.
