RECENT reports in the media have highlighted the stark realities faced by nurses in Malaysia, many of whom are being lured to work overseas by higher salaries, better working conditions, and greater professional development.

According to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad, data from the Malaysian Nursing Board for January to Dec 31 last year showed that 2,445 nurses had applied to work abroad.
